With the right qualifications, and a short training, you can become certified to inspect ENERGY STAR Homes and build your business in the Northwest!
Many types of experience and training provide the right qualifications to become a Verifier. Perhaps you have one of the following qualifications:
- You are employed in a company that installs insulation, tightens building envelopes, or installs energy system equipment.
- You conduct residential energy audits or energy analysis.
- You have completed a Super Good Cents or Long Term Super Good Cents training within the last 10 years.
- You have a BPA Energy Auditor certification.
- You are certified as a RESNET Home Energy Rater.
- You are a licensed professional engineer or architect.
- You have an Associates Degree in Energy Management.
- You have other energy auditing or analysis training.
Steps to become a BPS/Verifier:
Step 1:
Contact your State Certification Office and inquire about the local application process.
Step 2:
Find a Verifier Training in your area. Check our Events Calendar for upcoming trainings.
Step 3:
Complete Verifier Certification Training and complete necessary certification paperwork. This may vary by state, so be sure to work closely with your SCO.
Step 4:
Contact a Northwest ENERGY STAR Market Development Lead (MDL) to assist you in developing your business. MDLs are knowledgeable about the NW building market and can help you identify opportunities.
