To have your ENERGY STAR qualified home verified, a verifier inspects your project on-site and collects all the information needed to ensure that it meets ENERGY STAR Home standards.  These verifiers generally work for Building Performance Specialist (BPS) or Home Performance Specialists (HPS) Company.   During this process, the BPS/HPS directly confirms the proper selection and installation of specifications with nominal values and labels (i.e. insulation, windows, and appliances).

For performance standards, the BPS/HPS is responsible for confirming that the performance testing technician is approved by the program, and collects the relevant testing documentation for each home, but in some cases may not directly test the systems. The BPS/HPS also records the data from the performance testing sticker applied to the air handler on the inspection form, and enters this information in the program database. For CheckMe!®, a copy of the report must be collected by the verifier from either the technician or the builder.
